Tuesday 27th March saw the culmination of a significant amount of hard work and creativity by five teams of Transition Year students.
They had entered the first ever Waterways Heritage competition organised by the Barrow branch.

While the take-up was low (three schools out of 30), the quality of the submissions was really very high.

The winning team had undertaken an "activity project". 
They cleared and restored a section of riverbank near Carlow, having first undertaken a thorough research of their subject.

Second place was awarded to a visual history of the bridges over the river Suir at Waterford.

Third prize was awarded for a tourist guide to Carrick-on-Suir.
